CHRISTMAS STORY COMPETITION WINNER ANNOUNCED

Councillor for Education in Orihuela, Rosa Martínez, presented the award for the VI Christmas Story Competition to Lucia Padilla Carrillo, from the Colegio Público Miguel Hernández, for her winning story, “Mi Navidad con un regalo especial”.

The prize included a printed version of her work, illustrated by Nuria Ortuño Hernández, as well as the accolade of being the person who switched on the Christmas lights throughout the city.

The much awaited La Siesta park in Torrevieja opened on Saturday, with many people attending the event to check out some of the leisure and pleasure facilities now available in this popular area of Torrevieja. The La Siesta park features all kinds of sports pitches, for football, basketball, hockey, and more, as well as the largest paved pump track in the world, according to the town hall. Torrevieja Pump Track Grand Opening
It's been a long time coming, but the La Siesta Skate Park is due to open this week with the inauguration set for Saturday 16 March at 11:00 a.m. The park contains many different facilities for different sports modalities, and there's seating around the entire area.
