The CEIP Manuel de Torres de Almoradí in the junior category and IES Gabriel Miró de Orihuela in the youth section have won the XIX Carol Contest held at the el Teatro Circo in Orihuela and organized by IES Las Espeñetas in conjunction with the Department of Education .
Second and third in the Junior category were the Nuestra Señora del Carmen de Orihuela, and el Colegio Público San Pedro Apóstol, de Granja de Rocamora.
In the youth category runners up were IES San Pascual de Dolores while the IES Rafal finished in third.
In total, more than 300 students comprising eight choirs were represented. Each had to sing the once compulsory piece of ‘Oh Blanca Navidad’ followed by two further carols of their own choice.
Prizes were presented to the schools by The Councillor for Education, Rosa Martinez.
