The department of infrastructure in Orihuela, under the lead of Antonia Moreno, invested 60,000 euro in methods to improve accessibility for those with restricted mobility during 2013.

The now departed councillor made a last visit to one of the improved areas, along with the president of Orihuela Sin Barreras, Carmen Díaz, in order to check on the latest in a long list of improvements under the “Mobility Plan”, aimed at improving communication between the urban spaces of the city, with the ultimate goal that everywhere becomes accessible, “with the encouragement and support of the association Orihuela Sin Barreras in mutual cooperation”, Moreno said.

The commitment of the town hall will continue into 2014, according to Moreno, with improvements around the cathedral next on the list.

Meanwhile Carmen Díaz, was pleased with the latest development, whereas access was improved near to the railway lines, “because it was a problem for people living on the other side of the bridge”, especially with the increase in traffic caused by road diversions during the high speed train work, praising the town hall for also solving “the problems of access to school”, concluding that with this latest step, it result in the fact that they have “ended the year very happy”.
