Officers from the Local Police in Elche arrested three people on Sunday, all said to be of Colombian nationality, accused of stealing 5,000 pairs of shoes.

The arrests took place at around3:30 in the morning at a warehouse near Camino de Castilla, where they had deposited the shoes ready packed in boxes.

The warehouse had been rented the day before and at the time of the arrest those involved were unloading the boxes from two vans. Upon seeing the police, the suspects fled, but were later caught by the officers.

The two vans full of boxed shoes were seized, along with the large number of boxes that have already been unloaded. The officers also found a variety of tools believed to have been used for committing acts of theft.
