Indalo Bowls Club, Mojacar, February 1/2, 2014
Twelve men & twelve ladies representing the Malaga Provincial made the trek to Indalo Bowls Club to play a match against the Spanish National Squad, under the auspices of the Spanish & Andalucian Bowling Federations.
The result was not only an exhibition of excellent bowling and warm friendship between the two teams, but an impressive win for the Spanish Squad after last years defeat to Team Malaga. The Malaga Ladies Team extremely well, (losing by only 7 shots overall), with an Outstanding performance from Barbara Land, who won 3 out of 4 of her matches.
After two days of spectacular competition, the event was topped off with a very convivial gala dinner at the Hotel Tropical Oasis, Mojacar, where the visitors had been accommodated. Speech by speech confirmed the success of the event and the need to keep this event ongoing.
Spanish Squad manager, John Muldoon, credited Captains Lyn Greenland & Nick Cole and Head Coach, Derek Sale for their efforts. Team Malaga’s Manager, John Carr, gave a special thanks to Captains, Margaret Kain & Brian Todd and Competition Secretary, Amber Dineen. (It was agreed between the 2 Team managers that Malaga would host 2015’s event.)
Well done the two teams, the many spectators and members of the Indalo Bowls club who worked so hard to make the occasion such a great success.
