COASTAL BURGLARS ARRESTED

Officers from the Guardia Civil have arrested two men, aged 22 and 27 and residents of Torre Pacheco, accused of being involved in at least 33 crimes of burglary.

The investigation began last November, when officers detected several break-ins of holiday homes in San Pedro del Pinatar, events which at the time caused considerable concern to residents.

The investigation found that the two suspects operated from their base in Torre Pacheco, where they planned the robberies. They would then detail all elements of each action, including escape routes and monitoring access, to plan the most effective raid without detection.

Entrance to the properties was mostly achieved by brute force, using tools with which to break in, where they would then seize money and goods which were sold on.

Having now arrested the two individuals, investigators have attributed 15 cases of burglary in San Pedro del Pinatar to the pair, and another 18 in Pilar de la Horadada.

The two men were presented to the courts in San Javier where they were remanded in custody.
