ORIHUELA MOTORBIKE THEFT GANG ARRESTED

Officers from the National Police have dismantled another vehicle crime group based in Orihuela, this time focussed on stealing motorcycles.

Four people have been arrested in Orihuela, three Algerians and a Spaniard, all aged between 28 and 29, whose criminal activity was focused on the removal, handling and sale motorcycles, facing charges of theft, vehicle theft, fraud, forgery and being members of a criminal group.

The investigation began following numerous complaints filed in the towns of Elche and Orihuela where victims denounced the theft of their motorcycles. Following police inquiries the group were identified, located and arrested, with six motorcycles so far recovered.

Most of the motorcycles were identified for theft from large areas and communal garages, taken and stored in private facilities, sometimes dismantled and reconstructed with different parts and some then offered for sale through the internet.

Officers have not ruled out further arrests and the investigation by the Judicial Police station in Orihuela is ongoing.

On the 10th of February, we reported how officers from the National Police had dismantled a group of car thieves, all between 28 and 30 years of age and of Spanish nationality, believed to be responsible for a network dedicated to stealing cars, dismantling them and selling the parts.
