Emiliano with Daniel Plaza, the former Cllr for Sport and Olympic Gold Medalist

On the 4thof April 2014 in the Pabellon Cecilio Gallego (The Blue Pavilion in the sports centre) in Torrevieja, there will be a night of boxing which will include 8 amateur international bouts with boxers from the United Kingdom, Spain and Norway.

These will include a heavyweight bout, and will feature as the main bout of the evening, the Torrevieja fighter, Emiliano Casal, who has a professional record of 18 victories and two defeats.

This will be an exciting and unique experience for Torrevieja as Emiliano, the current Spanish National Champion, has not boxed in his home town since 2007. Since that time, Emiliano has won the Transcontinental title at Super Lightweight in 2009 with a victory over Sento Martinez. Emiliano also went on to become the Hispanic Champion at Welterweight with a 2nd round stoppage over Venezuelan boxer, Jose de Jesus Lopez.

In 2012, Emiliano Casal went on to win the Spanish title at lightweight with a TKO in the 2nd round against Felix Soria from the Balearic Islands. The 28 year old Soria announced his retirement from professional boxing after that fight.

In 2013, in front of 3,000 partisan fans in Gijon (Asturias), Casal defeated local fighter Alejandro Rodriguez Pereira with a 7th round knockout to claim a second Spanish National title.

Emiliano is the first Professional boxer from Torrevieja to claim a National title and now, this coming FRIDAY 4th APRIL, he hopes to continue re-writing history when he takes on Juan Carlos Lopez, known as “King Daluz”.

The Canary Island boxer comes into this fight unbeaten in his 10 professional bouts. He is an ex-member of the Spanish Olympic squad and held the Spanish title at Junior level.

Tickets for the evening are on sale at the SPORTIN gymnasium (Crevillente Road) and from PIZZERIA EL GATO in La Zenia. Prices are 10 euro if bought before the evening of the event or 15 euro on the door. Ringside tickets are also on sale at 25 euro, whilst VIP tickets, at 50 euro each, will also include a catering service on the night.

Anybody with a ticket to this event will also be able to attend the post fight party at the local night club, LOVE. It is important to show your ticket to gain entry to the post fight event.

We would strongly advice to purchase your tickets in advance as the Pavilion has a limited capacity and expectation is running high in and around Torrevieja to witness this historic evening of boxing.
