ITV PRICE CUT IN VALENCIA

The government of Valencia has approved a decrease in the cost of the Inspección Técnica de Vehículos, or ITV, slashing 17.1% off the cost of a standard vehicle inspection, and 18.3% off that for a diesel passenger car.

As a result, the cost of the mandatory certification equivalent to the UK M.O.T. has dropped by 2.48 euro for most vehicles, by 2.75 euro for diesels, with reductions also for noise and emission tests.

In addition to the reduction, the government has also standardised costs for the likes of quads, ATVs and camper vehicles, which were not specifically dealt with previously.

The Valencia region has contracted seven companies to complete the ITV test, who have been operating since 1997. In the past, many motorists have taken their vehicles to other regions for a cheaper test, meaning that Valencia had been missing out. This price change brings the region closer to the price of its neighbours.
