LEMON TRUCK CRASH BLOCKS MOTORWAY

The A7 motorway became blocked to traffic on Wednesday morning, when a truck loaded with lemons overturned and spilt its load.

The incident happened at kilometre 545 of the motorway, near to Orihuela, at 11:49, when the truck crossed the carriageway for reasons which are being investigated.

Having shed its load, the road became closed and the emergency services diverted traffic via the N-340, whilst fire fighters freed the driver who had become trapped by his leg.

The driver was taken to the hospital in Orihuela suffering a fractures limb, whilst efforts continued to remove the truck and its citrus load from the road.

The much awaited La Siesta park in Torrevieja opened on Saturday, with many people attending the event to check out some of the leisure and pleasure facilities now available in this popular area of Torrevieja.
