QUAD-RIDING COPS

Life guard services on the beaches of Guardamar begin on Saturday the 21st of June, the same date as Orihuela, with the main beaches in the centre, as well as La Roqueta, and then from the 1st of July at Babilonia, and then from the 5th of July at the surrounding beaches of El Vivers, El Moncayo, El Camp and Les Ortigues.

The Cruz Roja will be providing the life guard services this year, having signed the contract to start this weekend. Last year there were 3,359 incidents that required the intervention of the life guards on the beaches. This year, the service will also be extended by half an hour each day.

In order to provide additional security on the beaches this year, Guardamar will also have the support of four local police officers with quads, which have the capability of travelling over the sandy dunes, and into the water, thus providing additional mobility in times of need.
