TORREVIEJA TO THE AIRPORT BUS GROWING IN INTEREST

The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, has this week expressed his satisfaction that the Torrevieja to Alicante-Elche Airport bus link has grown by 25% in the first 5 months of the year.

Since the 1st of January this year, a total of 27,602 passengers have used the service, compared to 22,242 during the same period last year. The average daily use was now 180 passengers, compared to 147 people per day in the first 5 months of 2013.

As for each of the 5 months, in January there were 4,093 passengers, February saw 3,927, in March there were 5,015, April 6,873 and in May the bus carried 7,964 people, marking the busiest month so far.

During the whole year of 2013, a total of 72,049 passengers were carried, representing an increase of 39.5% over 2012, when 51,660 people used the service.

The especially liveried coach runs 8 services each way per day, every day of the year. With the bus catering for almost 50 people each run, the capacity for the entire service day is 800 people, and so with the 180 per day using the service, there is still plenty of room available.
