Mancebo said that the metal fence erected around the site a couple of years ago is not enough

Clr spokesman, Pedro Mancebo, warned the Orihuela Planning department last week of several homes in la Plaza de Santa Lucía in the hamlet of Barrio Nuevo, just to the east of the city, that are in imminent danger of collapse.

Although none of the properties are occupied they are still a danger to passers by and he urged the Planning Department to take steps to both protect the public and secure the buildings so as to avoid damage to both passers by and those who are reckless enough to attempt illegal entry to the site often looking for material to steal.

Mancebo said that the metal fence erected around the site a couple of years ago is not enough and are "he receives many complaints about the possible the danger to pedestrians."

He explained that four of the five houses that make up the site are municipal property, so he insisted on the need for the City Council to act to avoid unnecessary hazards or accidents.

The Orihuela Councillor said that a simple metal fence around the site is no solution.
