PROPERTY MORTGAGES INCREASE BY 19% IN JUNE

The average value of the mortgages on homes hit in the sixth month of the year was 98 582 euros

According to data released last week by the National Statistics Institute (INE), the number of mortgages on homes that were registered in the month of June has risen by 19% on the same month in 2013 which now means that home foreclosures are back into positive territory after two consecutive months of negative rates of 13.4% in April and 3.4% in May.

The average value of the mortgages on homes hit in the sixth month of the year was 98 582 euros, 1.3% more than the same month of 2013, while borrowed capital increased by 20.5% year on year, to 1689.4 million.

By region, those recording the largest number of mortgages on homes were Madrid (3,481), Andalucia (2900) and Catalonia (2,435) although there were declines in Aragon (-19.3%) and La Rioja (-5.8%). The rest recorded positive annual rates, with the largest rallies in Galicia (+ 92.5%), Extremadura (+ 66%) and Navarra (+ 64.9%).
