The chills were felt this week as temperatures dropped to levels not seen since February.

As autumn is well and truly taking us towards the winter months, Tuesday saw temperature peak at just 14.8 degrees in Alicante, the coldest since the 12th of February, whilst Benidorm saw 16.8 and Orihuela 15.4.

Rain also fell by the plenty with Sax being the worst hit in the local area, followed by Elche and then Alicante.

In order to prepare for a cold winter, the Ministry of Development has launched a road campaign, for which they have invested 64.2 million euro. To ensure safe passage in the event of ice and snow, this year the Ministry has access to 1,330 snow plows and 236,300 tons of grit, mainly salt, distributed in 367 stores and 510 silos scattered around the country.

To facilitate the operation, in case of restrictions on the movement of heavy vehicles, there are 36 emergency parking locations already prepared around the road network.
