WE REMEMBER

Remembrance day we think much more,

of heroes of the 1st World war.

We Remember 100 years on,

the veterans though they’re now gone.

Into the trenches men were hurled,

to fight for freedom for this World.

They fought bravely. Millions died.

How many more millions cried?

The war to end all wars, it’s not,

but all of them, we’ve not forgot.

They did their duty. Paid the price.

Some had the wrong throw of the dice.

Then there was peace for a few years,

til the 2nd World war occurs.

My dad was there and did endure,

5 years as prisoner of war.

He never grumbled. Didn’t moan,

but he went home with no knee bone.

No pain for me could be greater.

I’m 8 when dad died, 10 years later.

We cannot stop the fight for peace,

til wars finish.Til all wars cease.

We won’t forget. We will remember,

when poppies fall, 11th of November.

Thanks veterans for our freedom,

here in the United Kingdom.
