Spain´s DGT traffic department has had its cheque book out again in November, spending 2.6 million euro on new radar speed detectors.

The company Saima Seguridad SA has been awarded a contract worth 1,645,500 euro, to provide 30 new roadside radar speed detectors. The Autovelox 105 model, valued at 54,580 euro each, is capable of measuring the speed of vehicles, as well as the distance between vehicles, as well as the length and width, and can monitor cars and trucks from independent databases.

The Autovelox 105 is one of the easiest devices to carry and set up and can operate from vehicles, the side of the road, or mounted on street fixtures. They can also be installed in permanent casings.

In addition, the company Etel 88 SA has been awarded a 995,000 euro contract for the provision of another two airborne Pegasus radar detectors for the DGT´s helicopters, which will bring the total flying eyes to seven.
