SPEED WALKING FINE DENIAL

The DGT traffic department has issued a notice denying that pedestrians will be fined for walking too fast.

The statement is in response to reports in numerous newspapers regarding proposed changes to the rules of the road. Referring to the suggestions that pedestrians can be punished, the DGT confirm that “This agency wants flatly deny that possibility”.

They also confirm that the proposed draft of the law is the same as that which has been in existence since 1992, although there are regulations referring to carts and carriages which may be propelled or pulled manually, where legislation is in place to ensure their safe operation.
