Last Friday Martina Scheurer handed in officially to Orihuela Town Hall the different projects ready to put out to tender and to be paid out of the 40% of the sale of land.
These are:
The park in La Regia for a total amount of 254.686,55€.
This would include a fitness parcours, a mountain bike parcours, an area exclusively for dogs, a complete new multisport zone and, what is most important, channelizing the rain water to avoid future damages. The whole sports installations would be situated in the higher part of the park, due to the fact that the lower part is involved in a court case and therefore no investment can be made there until the court case which has to certify the ownership of the town hall, is not finished.
Footpaths and cycling lane on Carretera S. Miguel de Salinas, from the Comercial Center La Fuente passing the Mercadona for a total amount of 241.932,74€.
This area looks very abandoned at the present moment. It is the main road inland of Orihuela Costa which connects the different Golf Courses and all the urbanisations.
Work on the roundabout in La Zenia on the N332 for a total amount of 176.763,50€.
As known the Ministry of Streets responsible for the N332 has issued a resolution to turn Calle Maestro Torralba and Calle Alhambra into one-way-streets and forcing the town hall to carry out work of improvement in the roundabout area. At the same time the 2 missing bus stops would be built together with a new parking area which will be situated next to the taxi stop.
Work on the cliffs of Cabo Roig for a total amount of 246.552,79€.
Around Cabo Roig beach side and especially next to Cala Capitán part of the rocks has fallen down and already since last year the paseo situated underneath cannot be used anymore. This project includes the installation to maintain the soil and rock in place to avoid future landslides and make the whole paseo usable again for tourist and residents.
These projects mentioned above are all been ready for a long time. The money of the sale has not yet been released – not to the Orihuela Costa and neither to the other departments. The chief financial employee of the town hall, the Interventor (Auditor), is closing the balance of the year to be able to judge the financial situation. Where in the past income from land sale could be used only for investment, those laws have changed and this kind of unforeseen income can and should now also be used to guarantee the budget stability.
I do hope that the money will be released. The projects are complete and ready to be used, in the case of the roundabout in La Zenia there is even a time schedule from the Ministry of Streets to be maintained. The total of these projects does not use up the 40% but are the most urgent ones to be done.
Cleaning the Microreserva Aguamarina – Campoamor:
In collaboration with the Consellería of Environment there will be a small team coming along (ca. Datum) for a few days to clean the area of the micro reserve of Aguamarina – La Glea.
Whoever wants to volunteer on those days can get in touch with residentes@orihuela.es. The work will coordinated by Trino Ferrandez, assistant of Manuel Gallud, councillor from Los Verdes of the department of Environment of Orihuela.
Ecoparque:
Meanwhile I got hold of the Project mentioned and ordered by Pedro Mancebo to build a large garage for the waste vehicles in Lomas de Campoamor. First thing I found out is that he did not follow the legal procedure to order such a Project, which would have been to apply for 3 price offers and order it to the cheapest, with the overview of course of a technician. This is the reason why this Project has not been paid yet as no technician signs responsible for it.
The total amount would be more than 600.000€. And this amount does not include the Ecoparque itself, it only considers the garage. Even though a motion presented by Centro Liberal to the Plenum regarding this Project, a motion which went through, it is clear that this work will not be carried out in the near future due to absolute lack of money.
