FINNISH AMBASSADOR IN PILAR

Pilar Mayor Ros with the Finnish Ambassador

The Finnish Ambassador to Spain, Tanzi-Albi, visited Pilar de la Horadada last Wednesday when he called in on the local mayor, José Fidel Ros.

He was accompanied by the Honorary Consul in the area, Mariano Sánchez. This was the first official visit of the Ambassador to Pilar who was in the town to introduce himself to the area’s 75 resident Finns.
Tanzi-Albi, has been the Ambassador to Spain since September 2013.

He said that he is keen to work for the rights of Finnish and foreign permanent residents of Finland in the region and thanked the Honorary Consul of Pilar de la Horadada, one of the twelve available only in Spain, for the guidance that he had provided.

Mayor Ros said of the municipality pilareño "We are devoted to improving the situation of all foreign residents in the town and we are working hard to ensure that they are fully integrated with our own people, and thus develop intercultural activities within the town which helps to promote integration".

To that end, the mayor said that the council has spent a great deal of time organizing intercultural activities in Pinar de Campoverde, where international citizens have the opportunity to meet and share concerns with their consuls as well as other foreign citizens and the municipal authorities.

On first being introduced to the mayor the Ambassador presented him with a gift made by the Finnish designer Alvar Aalto.
