NEARLY A THOUSAND WORKERS FIND WORK IN MARCH

The most reductions have been seen in Torrevieja, where 448 people found work,

Unemployment in the Vega Baja region fell by 997 people in March, with the registered unemployment figure now standing at 34,105.

The most reductions have been seen in Torrevieja, where 448 people found work, Pilar de la Horadada has reduced unemployment by 147, in Orihuela there are now 123 fewer jobless people, and in Guardamar del Segura, 112 people found work.

However, as always, there were municipalities which saw an increase in unemployment, specifically 22 more people are now out of work in Callosa de Segura, 10 in Benferri, 8 in Algorfa, 7 in Daya Nueva and 6 in Jacarilla.

The much awaited La Siesta park in Torrevieja opened on Saturday, with many people attending the event to check out some of the leisure and pleasure facilities now available in this popular area of Torrevieja. The La Siesta park features all kinds of sports pitches, for football, basketball, hockey, and more, as well as the largest paved pump track in the world, according to the town hall. It's been a long time coming, but the La Siesta Skate Park is due to open this week with the inauguration set for Saturday 16 March at 11:00 a.m. The park contains many different facilities for different sports modalities, and there's seating around the entire area.
