Officers from the Guardia Civil have arrested eight people across Alicante, Murcia and Granada, accused of being part of an organised weapons smuggling gang.

During the raid on eight homes the officers seized five assault rifles and five pistols, as well as various knives, silencers, bows and crossbows, a large quantity of cash and a police shield.

Those arrested are of Spanish, Romanian and Dutch nationality and was conducted in collaboration of various security forces including the judicial police of Benidorm.

The much awaited La Siesta park in Torrevieja opened on Saturday, with many people attending the event to check out some of the leisure and pleasure facilities now available in this popular area of Torrevieja. The La Siesta park features all kinds of sports pitches, for football, basketball, hockey, and more, as well as the largest paved pump track in the world, according to the town hall. It's been a long time coming, but the La Siesta Skate Park is due to open this week with the inauguration set for Saturday 16 March at 11:00 a.m. The park contains many different facilities for different sports modalities, and there's seating around the entire area.
