NEW AIRPORT PARKING FACILITY

The new car park will also mean that vehicle movements are recorded

Drivers visiting Alicante-Elche airport will face two months of disruption, as work has begun to build a new short-stay car park for dropping off and collecting passengers.

The new “Exprés” car park will offer 80 places for 15 minutes of free parking and is set to replace the current open drop-off and collection zones which currently allow a short stop but are frequently abused by drivers who leave their vehicle for longer.

The new car park will also mean that vehicle movements are recorded, which will please the legal taxi drivers as the information could be used to clamp down on pirate and illegal operators.

The cost of the work is 116,568.48 euro and it should be fully operational by July.

The much awaited La Siesta park in Torrevieja opened on Saturday, with many people attending the event to check out some of the leisure and pleasure facilities now available in this popular area of Torrevieja. It's been a long time coming, but the La Siesta Skate Park is due to open this week with the inauguration set for Saturday 16 March at 11:00 a.m. The park contains many different facilities for different sports modalities, and there's seating around the entire area.
