Swimming lessons for the children of the Orihuela Costa organised by the Municipal Sports Department! We would all agree that they are very important indeed.
But why, oh why, are the Costa’s children, from the two schools, CEIP de Orihuela Costa and ÍES Playa Flamenca, being forced to make evening journey’s to Orihuela City, a round trip of 70km, to undergo such training when we have a perfectly good swimming facility in the Municipal Sports Centre in Playa Flamenca.
This is an absolutely ridiculous decision by the Councillor for Sport. Swimming lessons YES, extremely important, but dont’ drag the kids 30 miles down the road by coach for a 50 minute swimming lesson, not getting them back to the coast until 9.30 pm at night, when there is a perfectly adequate local pool that can be used.
Yet another example of the city’s politicians paying nothing more than ‘lip service’ to the people of the Orihuela Costa.
