TRAFFIC OFFICER INJURED ASSISTING BROKEN DOWN VEHICLE

Medics treated the 40 year old officer at the scene

A Guardia Civil traffic officer was injured on Wednesday in the Canillas de Abajo area, when assisting a motorist who had broken down.

The incident occurred at 11:00 on the A-62 in the Salamanca direction when the officer went to assist the stranded motorist.

As the officer approached the vehicle the radiator exploded and sprayed antifreeze into his face, resulting in him ingesting some of the toxic material.

Medics treated the 40 year old officer at the scene before transferring him to the hospital in the city of Salamanca for further treatment.
