A paraglider died on Sunday after an incident whilst jumping from the cliff top at Santa Pola lighthouse.

A rescue helicopter from the provincial fire consortium attended to render assistance to the man, but there was nothing that could be done to save his life.

Santa Pola lighthouse is one of the principal locations for paragliders to practice their spot, and has been the scene of previous incidents.

The much awaited La Siesta park in Torrevieja opened on Saturday, with many people attending the event to check out some of the leisure and pleasure facilities now available in this popular area of Torrevieja. The La Siesta park features all kinds of sports pitches, for football, basketball, hockey, and more, as well as the largest paved pump track in the world, according to the town hall. Torrevieja Pump Track Grand Opening
It's been a long time coming, but the La Siesta Skate Park is due to open this week with the inauguration set for Saturday 16 March at 11:00 a.m. The park contains many different facilities for different sports modalities, and there's seating around the entire area.
