An Easyjet Airbus flying from Newcastle to Alicante on Friday made an emergency landing in Paris on account of the aircraft being low on water.

Flight U2-6417 was around 100 nautical miles southwest ofParis when the crew decided to divert due to low water supplies. The crew declared an emergency to ensure a smooth passage to the ground, landing some 40 minutes after the alert.

The aircraft remained in Paris for 70 minutes whist taking on water and fuel before continuing to Alicante where it arrived with a 2 hour delay.

The airline confirmed that the crew declared emergency as a precaution due to limited water supplies on board.
