Thanks to the onset of summer, the service sector has led the way in job creation across the Vega Baja in June, with 68% of all jobs secured being from the sector.

In total, 7,992 people were employed in serving, compared to 1,757 in agriculture, 828 in construction and 754 in industry.

The temporary nature of summer jobs is always a later concern however, with 91% of the 10,631 contracts issued in June being for temporary jobs.

Well over half of the workers now employed are men, with 6,588 contracts compared to 4,043 women.

Once again, Orihuela has led the way in job creation with 2,679 people now finding work, followed by Torrevieja with 2.401, Pilar de la Horadada with 1,194 and Guardamar del Segura with 711.
