This weekend is likely to see large concentrations of motorbikes on the roads, as the Gran Premio de Motociclismo de la Comunidad Valenciana is held at the Circuito Ricardo Tormo de Cheste.

The DGT has therefore launched a special campaign on the roads to improve safety during the event which runs from Friday the 6th of November through to Sunday the 8th. During this period, it is expected that around 205,000 spectators will attend the event, with 10,000 motorbikes and 17,000 cars expected on Sunday alone.

The busiest areas are likely to be the A-3 Madrid-Valencia, the AP-7 and N-340 from Tarragona to Valencia and the A-7 and AP-7 from Valencia to Alcira.

The special operation will see Guardia Civil officers out in force in the area monitoring such activities as risky and dangerous behaviour, speeding and alcohol and drug use.

A team of 150 officers will focus on the key areas, accompanied by three helicopters, one of which will be equipped with the Pegasus radar equipment.

The roads are likely to be very busy near to the circuit and so the advice is to avoid the area is possible if you are not attending, or to use public transport, such as the train, in order to reduce congestion.

Cheste is a municipality in the comarca of Hoya de Buñol in the Valencian Community, located 26 km from Valencia.
