Ten people suffered minor injuries on Thursday when a bus crashed into a palm tree in Alicante.
The 15:00 Linea 9 departure was driving along avenida de Jijona, heading towards the centre, when the driver lost control, hitting a tree with the vehicle´s mirror, then mounting the pavement and crashing into a large palm tree, which suffered damage, the crown of the tree breaking off and hitting the ground below.
The Local Police were the first on the scene, accompanied by a number of ambulances, who treated the wounded at the scene, all having suffered minor injuries, before taking some of them to the local hospitals in Alicante and San Juan as a precautionary measure.
The road was closed for a while until the fire service were able to secure the scene and remove the remains of the tree and the bus. An investigation is being launched to ascertain what led to the crash.
