The beaches of the Vega Baja region, which include the Orihuela Costa, will exhibit a total of 25 prestigious blue flags this summer, which is four more than last year and in spite of all the chaos on some of the local beaches involving beach bars – or lack of them.
Nevertheless, this area continues to lead all others within the Valencian Region for the number of flags awarded for the high quality of the water and the services provided on its beaches.
The Cabo Cervera beach now joins others such as El Cura, Los Naúfragos, Los Locos, La Mata and Cala Piteras on the celebrated list of the best beaches.
Pilar de la Horadada
And in the area of Pilar de la Horadada, visitors will see an extra flag this year, as the beach of El Puerto claims one, putting it in the same league as Mil Palmeras, Los Jesuitos and Playa Conde.
Guardamar del Segura
Meanwhile, on the other side of Torrevieja, the three beaches of Guardamar del Segura that have already been awarded blue flags – La Roqueta, el Moncaio and Centre – maintain theirs for another year.
And last but not least, the Orihuela Costa has a total of 11 beaches with blue flags: Punta Prima, Cala Bosque (La Zenia), La Caleta (Cabo Roig), Cala Capitán, Aguamarina, Campoamor, Barranco Rubio, Cala Estaca, Cala Mosca, Cala Cerrada and Mil Palmeras.
