Urgent Appeal to Find New Homes for 26 Animals Seized During a Police Raid in Torrevieja

2 min read

The town hall of Torrevieja has launched an urgent appeal to find good, loving homes for a total of 26 animals that were seized after a 30-strong drug-trafficking gang was dismantled in the El Limonar area.

The councillor for Animal Protection, Carmen Morate, has stressed the importance of finding homes for these animals as quickly as possible, as the municipal shelter physically cannot cope with the addition of this number of new arrivals, especially at the time of year when the number of pets abandoned by their owners is also set to triple.

In concrete, the animals in the care of the town hall include:

  • 13 adult greyhounds
  • 10 greyhound puppies (45 days old)
  • 1 rottweiler
  • 1 hound (podenco)
  • 1 mini Doberman
  • 3 horses
  • 1 ferret
  • 1 piranha (named Federico)

Anyone who is interested in adopting any of these animals should send an email to proteccionanimal@torrevieja.eu, visit the Department of Animal Protection’s Facebook page or go to the Municipal Shelter, located on Calle Nenúfares s/n.

All applicants will have to undergo an interview and the adoption must be granted by the judge in charge of the case.
