This Saturday, the Three Kings will once again arrive in Torrevieja by boat, a scene which has become a tradition in the town, landing at 5:30 p.m. in the fishing port.

The Councillor for fiestas, Domingo Pérez, confirmed the arrangements in a press conference, explaining that their Majesties will spend about 30 minutes at the port greeting the well-wishers, before setting of to prepare for their usual tour of th town centre area.

The planned route is the same as previous years, travelling along calles Ramón y Cajal, Zoa and Ramón Gallud, with the expectation of arriving at the Plaza de la Constitución at around 8 p.m. where the children will be greeted by the kings, finally ending with a special reception at the Town Hall.

The entire route will be fenced off for security, after tragedy has struck too many times in the past, and the giving of sweets will be done by hand, rather than throwing them to the crowd. Grownups are asked to play their part by keeping a watch on children to make sure they don’t pass the security cordons.

The coumcillor also explained that this year there will be a number of side shows available to compliment the parade, and that one of the six has been provided by the Municipal School of Dance.

Before the Kings set sail for their evening parade they will have a busy Saturday before them as they will spend the morning visiting the residents of the residential care homes in the town, as well as the children in Torrevieja hospital.

For the technically minded, you might be interested to know that this year some 240 people will take part in the parade, distributing a ton of sweets, at a total cost of 80,860 euro.

Also, La Mata will have the Cabalgata de Reyes that will begin its journey from the Las Jarras Restaurant at 6 p.m. and end at the Plaza de Encarnación Puchol.
