Torrevieja´s Municipal School Council, chaired by the town´s Mayor José Manuel Dolón, met last week in an extraordinary session with the aim of renewing the board and welcoming new members who will oversee the educational needs of the municipal´s children.

The first point agreed was that the presidency of the Municipal School Council will remain the same, a post held by the Los Verdes, green party mayor of Torrevieja, José Manuel Dolón. In addition, the school board member representing the town council will be the councilor for education, José Hurtado.

In addition to the political members, the rest of the school council is made up of experts and interested parties in the field of local education, including six representatives of the teaching and educational services fraternity from within the municipality, six parents of students who are schooled in the institutions, plus an additional four representatives of parents of students of other public centres (one of the FAPA Gabriel Miró of Alicante and three of the FAMPA Enric Valor of Alicante), as well as other parents from other local schools, public and private, and neighbourhood, trade union and administrative representatives.

Once the inauguration of the new members of the Municipal School Council took place, the secretary was appointed, a position that falls to María Victoria López, of the STEPV-Intersindical Valenciana, representative of the teaching staff.

The session concluded with the approval of the calendar of ordinary sessions for the 2019 calendar year, which in principle were scheduled for every third Monday of the month, every two months.
