Last Friday the Councillor for Tourism, Luis María Pizana, was joined by the Director of the Torrevieja Yacht Club (RCNT), Carlos Torrado, in welcoming a group of 40 students from the University of Alicante (UA) where they are all studying for a degree in Tourism
Organized by the Departamento de Geografía Humana the presentation was to provide the students with first hand knowledge in the different forms of tourism encouraging them to consider some of the most interesting and very different tourist models, including: Golf Tourism, Nautical Tourism, Snow Tourism, Nature Tourism, Theme Parks, Beach and of course General Tourism.
They were told that Torrevieja was chosen as the venue for the lecture because it was regarded as one of the most important tourist destinations in the country where most of the tourism models could be enjoyed.
They were told of the strategies used to consolidate Torrevieja as one of Spain's premier Nautical destinations as Carlos Torrado explained how the tourist product "The Torrevieja Nautical Experience" has been consolidated in Torrevieja, bringing together many different factors such as the weather, the 14 kilometers of coastline and a bay with three marinas (Marina International, Marina Salinas and Real Club Nautico de Torrevieja.
They were also told of the involvement of the 16 companies that make up this tourist product, all engaged in activities as varied as boat rentals, diving, fishing, sailing or boat trips along the coast, in addition to the other tourist models, Flyboard, Jet Ski, Cable Ski, Kayak and Paddle Surfing.
They were referred to the information available in English and Castilian on the web www.torreviejanauticalexperience.com and to the existence of an exclusive brochure dedicated to the activity which is published by the city of Torrevieja.
Subsequently, students visited the Natural Park of the Laguna de la Mata and Torrevieja, where they received an informative talk at the Information Centre, on the unique features of the park and the management tools of this Mediterranean wetland of international importance.
