ORIHUELA GETS HIGH SPEED MOBILE INTERNET

Orihuela is the latest place to benefit from high speed mobile internet, as Orange launched the 4G services in the city this week.

After 1.5 million euro investment, the town of Desamparados, the industrial estate at Puente Alto, and the Ociopía comercial centres are now covered, along with the Orihuela Costa areas of La Dehesa de Campoamor, Cabo Roig, La Regia, La Zenia, La Florida and Villacosta.

A recent clean up of the radio airwaves was carried out on the Orihuela Costa, after it was discovered that a number of radio stations and Wi-Fi network providers were interfering with the new network.

Operating at ten times the speed of normal mobile internet, Orange has over 2 million 4G users on their network that covers 66% of the population of the country. At the end of the year, the 4G network will be in more than 500 municipalities and in all populations of over 25,000 residents, as well as airports, shopping centres and trade shows.
