MORE AIRPORT HOME SOUNDPROOFING

The Spanish airport authority, AENA, has plans to soundproof another 500 homes during this year, most of which are in the vicinity of the Alicante-Elche airport and its flight paths.

This latest announcement adds to the 2,001 properties already soundproofed by the end of 2014, a part of their Acoustic Insulation Plan.

The announcement was made this week during the fourteenth session of the commission of environmental monitoring of the airport, where the plans were laid out for the homes which work can begin immediately, as well as those where special planning will be required, and budget allocation.

The environmental monitoring committee is comprised of representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, the Generalitat Valenciana, AENA and the municipalities of Elche and Alicante.

A spokesperson for AENA said that the action “demonstrates the will of AENA to make consistent the quality of life of people with airport management, whilst providing a needed service for the proper development of economic and social activity in nearby areas and its area of influence”.
