SUPREME COURT DISMISSED DRUNK DRIVER DEATH APPEAL

The Court in Alicante has dismissed the appeal of a drunk driver who killed a woman in a crash in 2010 on the N-332 in El Campello.

According to the judgement issued this week by the Supreme Court, the Tribunal Superior de Justicia Valenciano (TSJCV), the appeal was dismissed and a two and a half year prison sentence confirmed for a crime against road safety whilst driving under the influence of alcohol and negligent homicide.

The incident occurred in November, 2010, when the driver of the offender was driving with “faculties impaired by alcohol intake”, lost control of the car on a curve, invaded the opposite lane and collided with another vehicle. The 34 year old female driver of that vehicle died on the spot.

The offender was also banned from driving for a period of three and a half years.
