The paternity suit lodged against King Juan Carlos, the former head of state of Spain, has been dismissed by the Supreme Court investigating the case.
Belgian citizen Ingrid Sartiau brought the case to court in September, 2014, after the abdication of the King, as he was immune from having the hearing presented whilst holding the head of state.
The case against King Juan Carlos, who still holds the title of King even after his abdication, “completely lacks plausibility or seriousness”, according to the court, and is considered, “false, frivolous and tortuous”.
The Supreme Court dismissed the suit by a majority of seven votes against three, therefore now confirming that the case is closed.
