FOREIGNERS BOUGHT ONE IN THREE HOMES SOLD IN 2014

Within the Valencian community Alicante achieved 24,210 purchases

According to the 2014 Statistical Property Yearbook, foreign buyers purchased one in three homes sold in the Region in 2014, 27.16 percent of the total.

These figures rank the Valencian Community at number three nationwide in this categorization.

The Baleares top the table for expat buyers with 32.63% while the Canary Islands rank at number two with 27.42% of the total. Each of thse figures more than double the national average within their communities which stands at 13.01%.

Within the Valencian community Alicante achieved 24,210 purchases, although this was a fall of 2.20 percent; Castellón reached 5,923 (3.23% less) and Valencia 16,675 (down 0.59 percent). In Alicante, 56.12 percent of the buyers were domestic and 43.88% foreign.

According to statistics, only 1.44% of transactions were in excess of 500,000 euros, while the national average was 5.20%.

This placed the region in eighth place, behind communities like Baleares, Basque Country, Catalonia, Andalusia, Madrid, Cantabria and Murcia.
