Mark Nolan here once again with your weekend round-up once again, looking at a few options for days out and things to do on the Costa Blanca. However, before we look at the local stuff, please remember that in the UK it´s Mother´s Day on Sunday. Card, gift, flowers, whatever, just send something now!

Talking of flowers, Pilar de la Horadada will be hosting the “Un pilar de flores” on Sunday, with a market selling cut flowers and plants on the Plaza de la iglesia between 10 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon. Definitely worth a visit if only to see the vast array of colours and experience the fragrance of the flower market. Perhaps not so good for hay fever sufferers, but certainly worth a visit and perhaps even the highlight of the weekend.

Also on Sunday, on the Pilar side of Mil Palmeras beach, you can join in with a bit of Zumba on the beach, which is always good fun.

The Murals of San Isidro are taking visitors in Orihuela again and the Orihuela tourism office has arranged for a guided tour on Sunday, leaving the tourist office at 11:00. The town hall has arranged a bus from the coast and Entrenaranjos but you will need to contact the tourist office for details of that.

If you don´t know what they are, the murals are a living museum with over a hundred painted houses paying tribute to Orihuela, its culture and history and is also a must-see area to visit.

In Torrevieja on Saturday there is a synchronised swimming competition taking place in the municipal pools and a handball competition with Mare Nostrum Torrevieja against Balonmano Benidorm in the evening.

Looking slightly ahead, the IFEPA exhibition centre in Torre Pacheco will be hosting one of the most important horse fairs in the country this week, Equimur 2016, which is on from the 10th to the 13th of March.

Other dates for the diary now and the 17th is St Patrick´s day. The annual parade will be taking place in Cabo Roig with TKO Radio there as the official radio station for the event, so make sure you come along and say hello to some of your favourite presenters on the day.

The 19th of March is San José, which is celebrated as father´s day here in Spain, a very important family day. Easter weekend revolves around the 25th of March, with celebrations across the country in the run up to that important religious fiesta, and right in the middle of that weekend we have to put the clocks forward as we welcome spring.

That´s pretty much it for this week, I will be back with more next weekend, have a great one, stay safe, look out for those you care about and I will see you on the other side of this event packed weekend.
