Judge Rejects Dog Beach Appeal

A judge has dismissed a precautionary claim made by the community of owners of properties adjacent to Cala del Moro in Torrevieja, which aimed to suspend the use of the beach by dogs.

The residents had requested the precautionary measure within the contentious-administrative appeal filed against the town hall that had made two beaches, Punta Margallo and Cala del Mal Paso as useable by dogs accompanied by their owners.

The court has rejected the appeal as there is “no irreparable damage” to the community, because the permission for dogs to use the beach is only temporary, and only for this year.

In the appeal, the residents had asked the court to suspend the use of the beach by dogs, as they are being deprived of continually using the beach in a way they had been doing so far.

The beach for dogs has survived this appeal, but the courts will revisit the case after the summer.
