Measuring 2.1 on the Richter scale, a minor earthquake rumbled Torrevieja in the early hours of Monday morning, in the midst of an overnight thunder storm

With its epicentre touching on the salt lakes in La Mata, Torrevieja, an earthquake measuring 2.1 on the Richter scale rumbled through Torrevieja and the surrounding area in the early hours of Monday morning.

The earthquake was registered at 03:38 and triggered sensors in neighbouring towns as well as Torrevieja.

The much awaited La Siesta park in Torrevieja opened on Saturday, with many people attending the event to check out some of the leisure and pleasure facilities now available in this popular area of Torrevieja. The La Siesta park features all kinds of sports pitches, for football, basketball, hockey, and more, as well as the largest paved pump track in the world, according to the town hall. It's been a long time coming, but the La Siesta Skate Park is due to open this week with the inauguration set for Saturday 16 March at 11:00 a.m. The park contains many different facilities for different sports modalities, and there's seating around the entire area.
