The councillor for tourism, Fanny Serrano, showed off a new booklet at a press conference this week, a guide that offers information about the various guided routes that can be enjoyed throughout the winter season.
The guided routes have been more popular than ever this summer, resulting in an extension to their contract, and now, throughout the winter, Torrevieja is being highlighted as a location for tourists to visit and enjoy during the cooler months.
This initiative continues to offer free guided visits at both in the centre of the town, delving into its traditions and customs, as well as the beautifully scenic Natural Park of Lagunas de La Mata and Torrevieja, providing information on ecotourism and urban routes.
Amongst the ecotourism visits, visitors can enjoy a general stroll through the natural park of the lagoons of La Mata and Torrevieja, an ornithological route that teaches visitors to recognise the fascinating birds that take refuge in the Natural Park, as well as the route through the vineyards and salt lakes to learn more about the history of the generations of winegrowers or the tradition of the salt lakes, the crafts and industrial history.
As for the town centre, there are visits to the Museum of the Sea and Salt; to the monumental setting of Eras de la Sal, where salt was stored and transported; to the Casino, one of the most representative buildings in the city; and finally, to the floating museums that show the life of the sailors aboard the submarine S-61 Dolphin and the Albatros customs patrol boat.
The new informative material also contains the schedule of the routes for the 2018-2019 season, the way in which you can register, and the itinerary of the urban routes.
