The councillor for young people in Torrevieja, Víctor Ferrández, has presented the 2018 autumn youth activity schedule, aimed at young people from 12 to 35,  and held mostly in the Centro de información y animación juvenil (CIAJ).

The councilor explained that there are more than 25 activities available, which include leisure events, employment and training courses and workshops.

The councillor said that the program “is very complete and varied” and highlighted the most important activities. “We continue to work to respond to the demands and concerns of the youths in our city and we believe that with this new programming we respond to these demands, both in youth leisure as well as in training, education and employment,” he said.

Among the activities, which also include a special focus for Halloween as requested by a large number of young people, there will be the II “Terrerífico” horror short film contest, a trip to Port Aventura, which according to Ferrández, has sold out already, horror cinemas and other workshops.

In addition, another event has been added to the celebration is a party, in collaboration with the Asociación Esquina Amarilla, named, ‘Torrevieja Nocturna’, on the 26th – at the CIAJ – and on October 27 – at the Parque del Molino del Agua – from midnight.

This year, World Smile Day will be commemorated for the first time with the Instagram contest “Smiling Moments” and the screening of the comedy “Lord give me patience” on October 11 at 5:30 pm at the CIAJ. Ferrández also listed activities that repeat from previous years, such as the Junior Gymkanica of Fiestas Patronales, which will be held on December 1.

Apart from these entertainment events, the mayor has also expressed the importance of training courses and job placement, such as the PICE program of guidance and training for employment, in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce of Alicante, aimed at young people enrolled in the Youth Guarantee scheme.

The autumn program is completed with an awareness campaign against gender violence for young people, training courses for the unemployed of the ADL, free legal advice for young people – thanks to the lawyer who was incorporated through the employment program – courses of the IVAJ and the collaboration with the university headquarters of the UA in Torrevieja, of which stand out a “Course of cómic” and the Hackaton 2018, a marathon of programming and tourist destinies, that were already a success last year and that generates a lot of networking between young IT workers and engineers. In addition, this season the meetings of the youth participation group “La Hora Joven y Universitaria” continue.

Finally, the mayor has encouraged all young people to participate in the activities of the CIAJ, located on Paseo Juan Aparicio 5. The registration period is now open.
