In encouraging news for international travel, American Airlines is increasing its Summer schedule by restarting ten routes to the US from airports in the UK and Europe.
These include flights from major travel hubs includi
ng Barcelona El Prat, Dublin, Frankfurt, London Heathrow, Madrid Barajas, Milan Malpensa, Paris Charles de Gaulle and Rome Fiumicino.
As part of American’s alliance with Alaska Airlines, the carrier will also launch a new service from Heathrow to Seattle-Tacaoma International, commencing on 30 March.
The service will initially operate three times weekly, until 3 June, when the frequency will increase to daily.
American Airlines said it is committed to reopening travel safely and has been working directly with local and international government officials to establish acceptable travel protocols.
The carrier was the first in the US to introduce VeriFLY, a mobile health passport which helps customers understand and verify their travel requirements.
Customers can use the free VeriFLY app when travelling on American from all international destinations to the US and on all direct and connecting flights from the US to the UK.
American’s joint business partner, British Airways, is also trialling VeriFLY on flights from London to the US.
American Airlines Vice President EMEA Sales Tom Lattig said: “We will be here for when our customers are ready to fly. With cleanliness and safety top of mind, we have taken extensive steps to ensure it’s safe to travel including earning STAR certification from the Global Biorisk Advisory Council for our entire fleet of aircraft, and all of our Admirals Club lounges.”
