The month of April ended in Torrevieja with 10,412 people unemployed, 0.8% less than in March, which ended with 10,498 people without work, according to data from Labora. This increase has benefited the service sector, caused to a certain extent by the opening of establishments, as well as the extension of hours in the hotel and commercial sector that registered a decrease of 1.6%, which translates into 140 fewer people in unemployment. In the construction sector, unemployment rose 6.7%, representing 75 more people without work. The figures improve in those under 25 and the middle-aged population, while they increase in those over 45.

On 18 May, the Department of Education in Torrevieja will announce the School Admission Campaign for the academic year 2021 – 2022, a campaign entitled: “Torrevieja, a lot to choose from.” You can apply for a place in the Infant and Primary Education schools from May 25 to June 2. Regarding Secondary Education and Baccalaureate, you can request a place from June 3 to 14.

The Guardia Civil has arrested a resident of Formentera del Segura for two robberies from homes with the residents inside. In one of them, the thief was surprised by the owner, who was attacked with the same tool that the suspect used to force entry. The 47-year-old man of Spanish nationality has been released on charges.

The Local Police in Valencia arrested an ONCE coupon seller after surprising him in the middle of a drug deal. The officers seized 30 grams of cocaine from the ticket seller.

In celebration of International Museum Day on 18 May, the Department of Tourism and Culture of Rafal council has organised various activities for this weekend with the aim of publicising the historic enclaves of Rafal and its origins, as well as the various artistic and cultural aspects of the municipality.
