After a year of absence, Torrevieja will once again celebrate the traditional Three Kings Parade on Wednesday 5 January, applying a series of restrictions and security and prevention measures that exceed current recommendations. The Councillor for Festivities, Concha Sala and the Councillor for Security and Emergencies, Federico Alarcón, have released the details of the arrival of Their Majesties The Three Wise Men from the East, as well as the security device that has been planned.

One of the main novelties of the parade that will begin in the fishing port enclosure on 5 January at 5:30 p.m., is the extension of the route with the aim of allowing the public to have more space to avoid accumulations . In this way, as the parade passes through the La Punta neighbourhood, the parade will run through calle Ramón y Cajal to calle Patricio Zammit and not to Zoa as planned. In this way, it will connect with calle Ramón Gallud and an extension of around 800 linear metres is achieved, which could accommodate almost a thousand people.

The Kings will arrive aboard the boat “Espejo de Torrevieja” from the local company “Marítimas Torrevieja”. The councillor, Concha Sala has thanked “once again the predisposition of the Juárez family to transfer the Kings.” The reception at the port, as well as the passage of the parade, will be faster than on previous occasions. Physical contact between the participants and the public will be avoided at all times and this year the usual delivery of sweets will be dispensed with.

The parade will be made up of six floats, the train of illusion, animals that have proven their good care and sanitary status, two dance groups, a recreation of real postmen, a musical group and a representation of the security forces and bodies that they will lead the cavalcade.

The mayor of Fiestas has thanked the participation of the 130 volunteers who will form the royal entourages, of the nearly 300 people who will make up the delegation. All participants will present their Covid certificate and parade with a greater safety distance. Throughout the tour there will be staff who will advise compliance with security measures.
Both councillors have requested the maximum citizen collaboration in the fulfilment of the security measures.

The entire route will be fenced, as will the doors of the Church of the Immaculate where the traditional adoration will take place. A small camp has been installed there with the collaboration of the Parish of the Immaculate. The Kings will later be received at the Town Hall, although the usual greeting from the balcony will not take place, nor will the toast inside the Town Hall. The royal entourage will not go this year to the University Hospital or to the nursing homes.

On the other hand, both today and tomorrow, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., a small camp will be opened at the gates of the Church of the Immaculate on the occasion of the arrival of the Royal Pages who will collect the letters of the kids. In Torrelamata it will be tomorrow, in the Plaza de Encarnación Puchol, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

For his part, the Security Councillor, Federico Alarcón, has encrypted around 70 people who will make up the security device between Local Police, Civil Guard, Civil Protection, Volunteers and Security Guards. Also during the tour, several security and evacuation zones will be set up, which will be located on Calle Zoa with Calle Ulpiano and on Calle Ramón Gallud on the corner of Calle Joaquín Chapaprieta. An ambulance will also be located on calle Apolo and an accessible area will be set up on calle Ramón Gallud at the height of Rambla de Juan Mateo.
