A new Tourist Office was opened on Monday 23rd December in Orihuela City my the mayor , Monserrate Guillen, and the Councillor for Tourism, Rosa Martinez .
They were accompanied by the Valencia Deputy for Provincial Tourism, Joaquín Albaladejo.
The Office is located in Plaza de la Soledad and according to Martinez, given the suitability of the location and it's visibility, it will become the meeting point and the beginning of all city tourist routes
The office houses information about all the tourist attractions, both in the municipality and the surrounding areas, and boasts that it will be able to meet the demands of every tourist. The office will also offer fixed schedule guided tours at 11:30 and 17:00 hours each day. It also has a new one souvenir shop.
A picture painted by Eva Hernandez Miguel Ruiz is prominently displayed in the office with the title “Orihuela, your people and mine."
The building also features a work area and a meeting room because, as the mayor said, it is an active center and must be prepared to meet whatever demand arises.
Rosa Martinez said that much work has been carried out in the Department to improve the region's tourism which has been ‘asleep and dormant for decades'.
The first steps were to improve the road to the coast which had not been maintained since 1995, make a catalogue of the beaches , the most recognized in Spain per kilometer of coastline, and promote the city of Orihuela on external social networks and at airports and train stations.
