ALICANTE BUS SERVICES TO SUFFER STRIKES

Workers on the urban and intercity bus services from Alicante start a nine day strike from Tuesday, after postponing their action from the 12th of December in order for them to vote of confidence in the company La Alcoyana and the town hall Department of Infrastructure.

Both sides met on Monday in a bid to negotiate the reduction in the number of proposed redundancies, but union members say that the company do not see any need to reduce this, or offer further explanations.

The strikes will take place on Tuesday and Friday this week, as well as Monday, Tuesday which is Christmas Eve, Thursday and Friday of next week.

The minimum services required to operate will be 40% during peak times and 30% at others.

The much awaited La Siesta park in Torrevieja opened on Saturday, with many people attending the event to check out some of the leisure and pleasure facilities now available in this popular area of Torrevieja. The La Siesta park features all kinds of sports pitches, for football, basketball, hockey, and more, as well as the largest paved pump track in the world, according to the town hall. It's been a long time coming, but the La Siesta Skate Park is due to open this week with the inauguration set for Saturday 16 March at 11:00 a.m. The park contains many different facilities for different sports modalities, and there's seating around the entire area.
